NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Statement on Senate Health Care Vote
Press Release | July 25, 2017
Columbus — Today, Sen. Rob Portman joined Senate Republicans to move forward on their healthcare proposal, the first step in their reckless efforts to dismantle our nation’s healthcare system.
NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland issued the following statement in response: “Sen. Portman let Ohio down today. By ramming through an extreme proposal to take away our healthcare, Sen. Portman and his Republican allies are literally leaving millions to die. Sen. Portman should be ashamed for choosing his political base over the health and wellbeing of women and families — and Ohioans are furious. NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio members aross the state have been in this fight since the very beginning and we will continue to hold Sen. Portman accountable for his out-of-touch agenda.
“We’re grateful for Sen. Sherrod Brown and his vote to stand up for healthcare access. Sen. Brown is a terrific champion for women and families. Ohioans would be much better off if Sen. Portman followed the lead of the senior senator from the Buckeye state.”
