Ohio Supreme Court Abandons Clinic
Press Release | August 21, 2019
Columbus — The majority-Republican Supreme Court of the State of Ohio has dismissed an appeal by Women’s Med Center, again refusing to acknowledge the right of a trusted medical provider to provide critical abortion care for an Ohio community. The clinic will continue to pursue options to continue to provide safe and legal abortion.
NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland said: “This clinic is still open, and abortion is available in Dayton for those who need it.”
On our AbortionAccessDayton campaign to support Women’s Med Center, she continued: “Premier Health has an obligation to protect access to health care in the greater Dayton area. They are failing. By refusing to sign a transfer agreement with this abortion clinic, they are denying patients access to the care they deserve. Today’s ruling is one more step in the wrong direction for Dayton. Premier Health should not be joining politicians in threatening abortion access.”
